The justice of the peace in the city of Ivanovo acquitted the person involved in the "palace case", former policeman Sergei Rimsky. The defendant himself informed OVD-Info about this.
The man was charged under the article on insulting a law enforcement officer (Article 319 of the Criminal Code). The magistrate of court district No. 2 of the Leninsky district acquitted Rimsky "in connection with the failure to prove intent to publicly insult a representative of the authorities." The prosecutor requested that the accused be given 200 hours of compulsory work.
Rimsky was charged with the incident in the paddy wagon when he allegedly spoke obscenely towards the police during the detention at the rally on April 21. On May 22, the man was searched and interrogated; on July 20, he was charged.
Earlier, OVD-Info recorded Rimsky's story about the detention and the criminal case in the wake of the April 21 rally.
