The Novgorod region was the first of the regions to announce that it would extend non-working days from November 8 for another week. Prior to this, Vladimir Putin publicly stated that governors should independently decide on the length of non-working days.
At a meeting of the regional operational headquarters, the governor of the Novgorod region, Andrey Nikitin , announced that non-working days would be extended for another week.
The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, also said that it would take more than a week to turn the tide with the coronavirus. At the same time, the official has not yet expressed specific proposals.
At the federal level, non-working days were announced from October 30 to November 7 - this was asked by the head of the federal operational headquarters Tatyana Golikova, and the decision was made by the president. At the same time, Putin immediately emphasized that the regions could introduce a non-working regime from October 23 and extend it after November 7, depending on the epidemiological situation.
