Russia will join the declaration on the protection of forests

Russia will sign a declaration on the conservation and renewal of forests at the climate forum in Glasgow, writes Bloomberg.

According to the agency, Russia will be among the 100 countries that have signed a commitment to deploy deforestation in 9.5 years. These countries account for 85% of the world's forests.

The program will cost $19.2 billion, of which $7.2 billion will come from companies and financial investors, and $12 billion from government funds from 12 economically developed countries, including the UK, the US, France and Germany. Thirty financial institutions will commit to excluding non-renewable forest management from their portfolios by 2025. “These commitments will give humanity a chance to move away from a long history of conquering nature and become its custodian,” said Prime Minister Boris Johnson, host of the summit.

It is the protection of forests that will be the focus of Vladimir Putin's pre-recorded address to the summit, the TASS news agency reported .
