Bezos joined the green alliance between IKEA and the Rockefellers

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' climate change-focused Bezos Earth Fund will allocate $500 million to support green energy, according to the Financial Times. The funds will be received by a joint fund of IKEA and Rockefeller Foundations with already available capital of $1 billion.

Over ten years, the alliance aims to raise $100 billion and reduce CO2 emissions by 4 billion tons, Per Heggenes, chief executive of the Ikea Foundation, told the FT: Nor should we underestimate the organizing power of Jeff Bezos, whose decision to join the project encourages [to participate in] others as well.”

In addition to Bezos, another $ 8 billion will be sent by the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the US Corporation for International Development Finance, etc.

• The IKEA and Rockefeller Foundations announced the launch of a joint fund in the summer to support projects based on renewable energy sources. The first of them are planned in a number of countries in Asia (India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan), Africa (Nigeria, Ethiopia, South Africa and Congo) and Latin America (Colombia, Haiti). The fund intends to raise $35-50 billion over the next five years.
