NYT: Russian analyst Igor Danchenko connected with the “Trump dossier” was arrested in the United States

US law enforcement agencies arrested Russian political scientist and analyst Igor Danchenko, who was called one of the main sources of information for the "Trump dossier" about a possible collusion between the headquarters of the former US president and the Russian authorities.

Danchenko, according to The New York Times, was taken into custody following an investigation by Special Counsel John Durham. Durham's task was to investigate the circumstances of the secret services surveillance of Trump's headquarters during the presidential campaign. Durham was appointed to the post of special counsel by the Trump administration.

Update: Danchenko is accused of making false statements to the FBI, according to court documents .

• Igor Danchenko, a Russian living and working in the United States, is considered one of the main sources of the Trump Dossier (or Steele Dossier). The dossier, published in 2017 after Donald Trump won the election but had not yet taken the oath, spoke of an alleged connection between the future US president and the Russian authorities. Trump and his entourage denied any connection with the Russian authorities. Later, some of the information mentioned in the "Trump dossier" was not confirmed during the investigation conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller . Danchenko himself was also suspected of having links with the Russian special services, which he categorically denied.
