The US State Department has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information that will help identify the identity and location of the main members of the DarkSide hacker group.

Even up to $ 5 million, the agency is ready to pay anyone who provides data that facilitates the arrest and / or filing of charges against participants (including potential ones) of the DarkSide cyber attack.

The US believes the group is responsible for hacking the Colonial Pipeline system, which operates one of America's largest pipelines. The incident occurred in May and led to fuel shortages and a surge in demand at gas stations all over the country's East Coast. The company paid the extortionists almost $5 million in ransom, but some of the money was returned.

Sources from CNN and NBC News claimed that DarkSide "comes from Russia," noting that there is no evidence of Russian authorities overseeing its work. The Kremlin commented that Russia had nothing to do with the hacker attack on the Colonial Pipeline.
