Three Jehovah's Witnesses were detained after searches in the Astrakhan region

On November 9, searches of Jehovah's Witnesses took place in Akhtubinsk and Znamensk (Astrakhan region). After this, three believers were placed in a temporary detention center (IVS): Sergei Korolev, Rinat Kiramov and Sergei Kosyanenko. This was reported on the portal “Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia”.

The website also states that the searches began early in the morning; during the investigative measures, security forces detained many believers, and they broke down the front door of Jehovah's Witness Kiramov.

• On April 20, 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization, liquidated it and banned its activities in Russia. In August, all Jehovah's Witnesses organizations were added to the list of prohibited organizations. After this, a stream of criminal cases began against Jehovah's Witnesses throughout Russia.

The name of one of the persecuted Jehovah's Witnesses has been corrected.
