Russian sales of Ozon on the discount "bachelor's day" on November 11 grew more than those of competitors - Wildberries and Aliexpress. It seems that the platform on this day noticeably approached, if not caught up with the Russian competitor.
Ozon reported a turnover of 6.1 billion rubles on the main day of the sale, which is almost 5 times more than a year earlier. Sales of entrepreneurs prevailed (4.5 billion rubles) and grew faster (6.3 times). The number of orders increased by 6 times.
Wildberries does not disclose the amount of sales on November 11, but claims that the record for their number was broken - 4.5 million per day against 2.5 million a year earlier. For the entire sale from October 28 to November 13, orders for 89 billion rubles were placed, which is almost three times more than in 2020, the company said.
Vedomosti, citing Infoline , wrote that on November 11, Ozon and Wildberries are approximately equal in terms of turnover. The representative of Wildberries did not agree with the assessment: according to him, sales for 11.11 are much higher than 6 billion rubles, but he did not disclose the amount.
AliExpress Russia (JV VK, Alibaba Group, USM Investments and RDIF) reported a sales turnover of 33.3 billion rubles on November 11 and 12 and a few days before it. Including the turnover of Russian sellers on the platform exceeded 13.4 billion rubles, more than doubling year on year. In total, more than 25.6 million orders were made during the sale period.
The absolute numbers of other Russian online stores are unknown, Vedomosti writes. Sbermegamarket marks a 10-fold increase compared to last year's sale. Yandex.Market is holding a sale throughout November. In the period from November 9 to November 13, the total turnover of goods on the marketplace increased by 3.5 times year-on-year, on November 11, the online platform recorded a 2.1-fold increase in sales compared to the same day of the sale in 2020.
Global singles day sales also set a new record despite the pandemic. Alibaba generated $38 billion in pre-pandemic 2019, $77.8 billion the following year, and $84.5 billion in 2021.
