The fire was stopped on the eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border from 18:30. “The situation has relatively stabilized,” the Armenian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Russian Defense Ministry also noted that the heads of the Azerbaijani and Armenian defense ministries agreed to end the fighting after a conversation with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Shoigu called on the defense ministers of both countries to stop the escalation of the situation.
“Currently, the clashes in the area of Mount Kilisali have been stopped, the situation has returned to normal and is under control,” the Russian ministry said in a statement.
In addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the aggravation of the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan by telephone with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Azerbaijan has not yet commented on reports of a truce.
