The court extended the detention of Rosderzhava journalists

The Moscow Regional Court extended the term of detention for Rossderzhava journalists Yan Katelevsky and Alexander Dorogov. This was reported in the telegram channel "Katelevskiy and Dorogov Info".

Katelevsky was kept in a pre-trial detention center until January 23, 2022, and Dorogov until February 21.

Dorogov's lawyer, Konstantin Barkovsky, challenged the presiding judge on the basis of the prohibition of video filming and the detention by the bailiffs of the journalist of the publication "For Human Rights" Kirill Borisov during the meeting. The court refused to dismiss. Borisov was hospitalized after the bailiffs used force.

In addition, the defense and Dorogov petitioned to challenge the prosecutor and the assistant judge, but the court also refused.

• Rossderzhava journalists Yan Katelevsky and Alexander Dorogov are accused of extortion (clause “b” part 3 of article 163 of the Criminal Code) and insulting an official (article 319 of the Criminal Code) - the investigation believes that they extorted 1.3 million rubles from an employee DPS for refusing to publish materials about him. Katelevsky is also accused in the case of damage to property out of hooligan motives (part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal Code).
• Journalists consider the criminal cases against them ordered and fabricated. They believe that the persecution started because of their professional activities and investigations.
