The Russian government approved the updated list of areas of the Far North and the territories equated to them, according to the Cabinet Telecinal channel.
The new list of territories of the Far North fully included Yakutia, Magadan, Murmansk regions, Nenets, Chukotsky, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs, Kamchatka Territory.
Also, certain parts of the Altai, Buryatia, Karelia republics were complemented by the list, Tuva, Trans-Baikal, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk Perm, Primorsky Territory, Amur, Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Sakhalin, Tomsk, Tyumen Regions, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.
The government emphasized that geographically the list of territories has not changed. Residents of the districts that previously received "northern" allowances will continue to receive benefits and those compensations and state guarantees that they are laid. This also applies to residents of Karelia districts.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on amendments to the development strategy of the Arctic zone of Russia. He canceled a number of decrees of the first president of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin, to which certain areas of Karelia were equated with living conditions in the Far North. For residents of the republic, this was a surprise - the northern and personnel allowances for salaries and pensions were threatened. Later, the Government of Karelia explained that the document is nothing more than a "clarification of the regulatory framework", and all benefits are preserved.
