On November 9, in Yakutsk, Stepan Petrov, the head of the human rights organization Yakutia - Our Opinion, was charged with reposts without being labeled "foreign agent". Petrov himself announced this to OVD-Info.
The Roskomnadzor Department for the Republic of Sakha drew up a protocol due to the reposts that the human rights activist made on October 2, 2021. Petrov is accused under the article on violation of the legislation on “foreign agents” (part 1 of article 19.34.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
“Stepan Yuryevich Petrov distributes messages and materials on the social network Facebook without indicating that these messages and materials were created and (or) distributed by a foreign media outlet acting as a foreign agent,” the protocol says.
On October 14, the Ministry of Justice entered the autonomous non-profit association for the protection of human rights and informing the population "Yakutia - our opinion" in the register of media "foreign agents". The head of the organization, Stepan Petrov, was included in the register on October 20 along with Important Stories, seven journalists of the publication and Dozhd.
