Radio Liberty has filed a report on fakes about veterans of the Great Patriotic War due to an article about the “draconian” order of Marshal Zhukov

Roskomnadzor filed a report against Radio Liberty over an article about the Great Patriotic War, in which Marshal Georgy Zhukov's order to shoot the families of those who had surrendered was referred to as "draconian." Radio Liberty Director Andrei Shary told Mediazona about this.

The article that caused the department's complaints was published on the publication's website in August. It described Order No. 270, which prohibited surrender and allowed deserters to be shot.

The article mentioned that shortly after the order was issued, Zhukov, as commander of the Leningrad Front, issued a cipher telegram demanding that information be conveyed to personnel that "all families of those who surrendered to the enemy will be shot and upon their return from captivity they will also all be shot." The author of the article described this cipher telegram as a "draconian order" and "an ominous order."

The report was drawn up under the article on public dissemination of knowingly false information about veterans of the Great Patriotic War (part 4.1 of article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offences).

"RKN is now fining us for the fact that Zhukov's instruction was allegedly not an order, but an 'explanation,' and that the author is trying to discredit Zhukov by calling his actions 'draconian' and 'sinister.' These are evaluative definitions, the author has the right to them," Shary said.

According to the director of Radio Liberty, the publication asked Roskomnadzor to access the archives to verify that the quotes provided by the author in the article were correct. Despite this, the agency submitted the protocol to the court.
