The new stage of the Bolshoi Theater was flooded with water on the night of November 22 due to the activation of the fire extinguishing system, the theater told Interfax .
The system worked for 25 seconds, which is why "quite a large amount of water got on the stage," a theater representative said. However, the scenery for Weinberg's opera "The Idiot," which was shown on the New Stage on November 21, was not damaged. They had been dismantled before the flood.
“Now the engineering services are eliminating the consequences, and I really hope that on December 1 we will show the premiere of the new ballet “The Master and Margarita,” said Vladimir Urin, General Director of the Bolshoi Theater.
Earlier, the video of the flood in the theater was published by the Mash Telegram channel. According to it, the incident occurred because stagehands touched the button to turn on the fire extinguishing system.
