In 2020, Russia took the fourth place in the world in terms of state expenses for defense, and by the share of these expenses in GDP ahead of the TOP-15 of the largest economies of the planet. Over the past 10 years, defense costs have increased by a quarter. At the same time, the number of sites for free discussion of the state policy, including in terms of militarization, is reduced. The theme of the army is emotionally painted for Russian men, and not only for them.
The Future magazine continues a series of publications following the results of Moscow Malefest-2021 . This time, the co-founder of the festival Lola Tagaeva talks about what the problem is with the image of a defender man, how he is associated with the grandsa and psychological problems of men.
Sociologist Marina Yusupova,in an interview with The Village, spoke out that the Soviet Union was either at war, or was preparing for the war:
All the power of the Soviet ideological machine was abandoned for men to become and become warriors. The Red Army was a stronghold of the political and ideological system in the USSR.
At the sunset of the USSR and in the history of the new Russia there were several campaigns (Afghanistan and the war in Chechnya), which we are trying to forget. Nevertheless, the role of the defender remains one of the key in Russian ideas about the “real man” - this is also confirmed by survey data.
