The court extended the preliminary hearing in the case of "Memorial"

The Moscow City Court extended preliminary hearings on the claim of the prosecutor's office on the liquidation of the Memorial human rights center (included in the list of NKO-“Ino-Agents”). This was reported on Twitter of the organization.

Judging by the decision, after representatives of the prosecutor's office could not answer all questions at the defense petitions. The following preliminary hearings will be held on November 29.

The meeting was held closed, in the request to open it and allowed the press to defend, referring to restrictive measures in connection with the Covid-19.

The Memorial is protected by a team of lawyers led by Ilya Novikov. Several dozen people came to the court to express support to the human rights center.

On November 25, in the Supreme Court of Russia, an consideration of the lawsuit against the "International Memorial" (included in the list of NCO-"Ino Agents") should be held. We are talking about a meeting on the merits, not preliminary hearings. The team of defenders of the organization will be headed by the famous lawyer Henry Reznik.

• In November, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Moscow Prosecutor's Office demanded through the court to liquidate the “International Memorial” and the Memorial Human Rights Rights, accusing them of violating the legislation on “foreign agents”, and in the case of a human rights center, also in support of extremism due to the list of political prisoners, which is leading the center. Several Nobel laureates, scientists, writers and world -famous musicians, as well as the United States, the European Union and the European Council opposed the demand of the authorities.
• On November 22, the court in Moscow fined the participants of single pickets in support of the Memorial - journalist Victoria Ivlev and human rights activist Yuri Samodurov - 150 thousand and 20 thousand rubles, respectively. Ivlev was accused of repeated violation of the rules of holding.
• The Memorial Society is one of the oldest human rights organizations in Russia, created back in 1989 with the participation of Andrei Sakharov. One of the main directions of its activity is the study of the history of repression during the time of the USSR, the creation of lists of victims of repression and perpetuating their memory.
