A resident of Vyborg, Leningrad Region, suffering from oncology and ascite, operated on herself, because she could not get qualified medical care due to Covid-19 pandemic. This was announced on social networks by an employee of the Emergency City Emergency Service Victoria Shutova.

According to the health worker, the woman who survived the Great Patriotic War and the blockade of Leningrad, against the background of oncology, developed ascite - the accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity. “She could not get timely assistance for the classical reason - Covid does not exist, this is a fairy tale. And the granny herself conducts surgical intervention - laparocentesis to alleviate the condition. That is, he makes incisions with a thin knife on the front abdominal wall, in order to remove the liquid,” said Shutova.

According to her, the woman left a suicide note in which she apologized to her relatives, and also asked "not to blame her daughter." After surgery at home, a pensioner was provided with medical assistance, she is in the hospital. “I posted a post to find worthy doctors to my grandmother and make life easier. We succeeded. Now she is in the hospital, doctors and relatives care about her,” Shutova told KP-Sank-Petersburg.

The Health Committee of the Leningrad Region said that the planned operation did not take place due to the problems of a woman with analyzes. The patient was detected by Covid-19, so surgical intervention had to be transferred. Officials will conduct a check after the incident.
