"Torture for youth": Bastrykin called to cancel the exam

The chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, called the Unified State Exam (exam) "torture for youth" and believes that it needs to be canceled. He stated this at the conference "The role of the right to ensure human well -being," TASS reports .

Bastrykin said that in Russia it was necessary at the legislative level to "revive the Soviet school of education", since it was, according to him, "the best in the world", and this "everyone has always recognized." In addition to the abolition of the exam, Bastrykin called for the abolition of all "undergraduates and specialties." The head of SK believes that it is necessary to restore the prestige of professors and "revive graduate school."

Bastrykin criticized modern history textbooks and distance learning at universities. According to him, due to the virtualization of learning, the teacher’s contact with a group of students is lost, and the information is absorbed worse.

• The USE began to be introduced in Russian schools since 2001, in 2009 it became the only form of final exams at the school and the main form of entrance examinations to universities. In Russia, a higher school reform was carried out, in particular, training in undergraduate programs (4 years) and magistrates (another 2 years of study) appeared.
• Higher officials did not speak out against the exam. Representatives of the Communist Party of the Communist Party were most actively opposed. In April 2020, a member of the faction and the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science Oleg Smolin stated that the pandemic was preventing the creation of equal conditions for conducting a full state examination, and called for Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to cancel it in 2020. The representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov said that the issue of canceling the exam is not discussed.
• The head of the UK often calls on to amend the current legislation. Previously, he called for the introduction of genomic registration for labor migrants, asked to close Instagram, confusing it with Telegram: he said that the social network should be closed because the "terrorist attack in Leningrad" (as he called St. Petersburg) in 2017 was allegedly committed using Instagram. Bastrykin also called for blocking sites with information banned in Russia within two hours to stop the propaganda of extremism on the network.
• The Ministry of Education has not yet commented on the words of Bastrykin.
