The US imposed sanctions against MIPT

The US Department of Commerce has imposed sanctions against the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT).

MIPT is included in one of the sanctions lists, since, according to the US Department of Commerce, it develops military products for military customers.

Being on this list means that US suppliers will need to obtain special licenses if they want to sell certain technologies and equipment to MIPT.

• MIPT, located in the city of Dolgoprudny, is one of the leading technical universities in Russia. Along with Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, Higher School of Economics, MEPhI, it is regularly included in authoritative rankings of the best universities in the world.
• Previously, the United States has repeatedly imposed various sanctions on Russian research institutes, but for the first time such a well-known university fell under the restrictions.
