The Central District Court of Simferopol fined four Crimean Tatars who came to the hearing in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir case. Crimean Solidarity reports this.
Enver Abselyamov, Lenur Ibragimov, Rasim Ametov and Nariman Seitveliev were found guilty of violating the high alert regime (Part 1 of Article 20.6.1 of the Administrative Code). The activists were fined from 8 to 12 thousand rubles.
Their civil defender Sabri Talypov noted that the police drew up reports later than three hours after the arrest, and the activists spent more than six hours in the police department. He added that according to the case materials, there were 17 people near the court building, while, according to the definition of the Simferopol administration, a mass event is considered a meeting with the participation of 59 people or more. The materials also contain photographs that show activists maintaining social distance.
- On October 25, 21 people were detained at the Crimean Garrison Military Court. On that day, the court was broadcasting a hearing to consider the appeal against the verdict in the Red Guard case of Hizb ut-Tahrir. The detainees were taken to temporary detention centers in different cities of Crimea. Lawyer Edem Semedlyaev, who came to one of the police departments to help the detainees, was subject to a report of disobedience to the legal demands of police officers (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code) due to his refusal to undress. On November 12, he was arrested for 12 days.
- The defendants in the Hizb ut-Tahrir Red Guard case, Rustem Emiruseinov, Eskender Abdulganiev and Arsen Abkhairov, were detained in Crimea as a result of searches in February 2019. They were in custody from then until their sentencing. On November 3, 2020, they were sentenced to 12 to 17 years in prison on charges of involvement in a terrorist organization. On November 1, 2021, the appellate court upheld the verdicts.
- The Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir is recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation. In different regions of Russia, as well as in Crimea, cases are being brought against alleged party members for the activities of a terrorist organization. At the same time, members of Hizb ut-Tahrir were not seen preparing attacks or terrorist attacks. Defendants are sentenced to varying terms solely on the basis that they held meetings and read religious literature. On the territory of Ukraine, the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir are permitted.
