
On the roads of St. Petersburg on the afternoon of November 30, 10-point traffic jams were formed due to heavy snowfall, the Yandex.PROKA service reports. The Petersburg authorities asked the townspeople to abandon cars and transfer to public transport.
The press service of the Transport Committee explained that the refusal of personal cars is necessary so that the snow removal could clean the roads of the city. The Comtrans noted that buses, trams and trolleybuses reached the routes in the “full”, but a large number of congestion interfere with their movement.
The committee also asked the townspeople to comply with the rules of parking and not to leave cars under prohibiting signs.
According to Fontanka, earlier the Yandex.Taxi service recommended that Petersburgers use the metro if they were afraid to be late.
According to the Fobos center, 16 millimeters of precipitation fell in St. Petersburg - almost a third of the November norm. The improvement committee said that more than 7.7 thousand cubic meters of snow were taken out. 1037 units of equipment and 1180 manual workers were released for daily cleaning, the department noted .
