A report was drawn up against the leader of the Kalmyk branch of Yabloko under the article of disrespect for authority

Batyr Boromangnaev, chairman of the Kalmyk branch of the Yabloko party, was charged with a report under the article on disrespect for the authorities (part 3 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) because of a post on Facebook. It is reported by Kavkaz.Realii.

Boromangnaev wrote on the social network that "Putin's Russia is a repressive, pseudo-democratic, kleptocratic, chauvinistic, non-legal, estate, autocratic, overly centralized, imperial, almost fascist state, in which human rights and freedoms are not respected, totally violated."

Because of this post, a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against the man. Law enforcers came to the conclusion that Boromangnaev's statement offends human dignity and demonstrates disrespect for the authorities.

The protocol also states that the post contains a negative assessment of "the activities of the person designated as 'Putin' in relation to the object designated as 'Putin's Russia'". The man faces a fine of 30 to 100 thousand rubles.

On December 10, the Elista City Court found Boromangnaev guilty of insulting the authorities in the person of President Vladimir Putin, and sentenced him to a fine of 30,000 rubles.

Boromangnaev himself insisted that the phrase "Putin's Russia" is a relative, not a possessive adjective and refers to the period of Putin's rule, but the court considered that the phrase "refers to a specific person - President of the Russian Federation Putin."
