The former editor-in-chief of “Project” was fined under the “foreign agency” article

The Chertanovsky District Court of Moscow imposed a fine on the former chief editor of the Proekt publication, Roman Badanin. This was reported by the telegram channel “ChTD” with a link to the case file on the court’s website.

Badanin was found guilty under the article on violating the procedure for the activities of the media, performing the functions of a “foreign agent” (Part 1 of Article 19.34.1). Punishment under this article for individuals is provided in the form of a fine of 10 thousand rubles.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor reported that a report was drawn up against the journalist due to the lack of “foreign agent” markings on his social networks.

• Roman Badanin was added to the media register as “foreign agents” on July 15. Later, at the end of September, OVD-Info was added to a similar register of unregistered public associations.
• On November 19, the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow recognized the legality of the inclusion of journalist Roman Badanin in the register of individual media outlets performing the functions of a “foreign agent.”
• On July 15, the Prosecutor General's Office designated Project Media Inc., the American publisher of the investigative media outlet Project, as an undesirable organization.
