The court in cassation overturned the arrest of the Kazan activist

The Sixth Court of Cassation of General Jurisdiction dismissed the case on repeated violation of the procedure for holding a rally (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) against activist Gulnaz Ravilova, she writes about this on her Facebook.

In August 2020, Ravilova was sentenced to five days of arrest due to the fact that she filmed a one-man picket on an editorial assignment from the Yabloko party. The activist was taken to court, despite the diagnosed covid. Her interests were represented by the lawyers of the Apology of Protest.

The court overturned the decision of the court of first instance and dismissed the case due to lack of evidence.

• On July 15, 2020, a member of the United Democrats Gulnaz Ravilova was detained due to the fact that during a search at the headquarters of the United Democrats on the night of July 3-4, she refused to go for a medical examination. Immediately after the search, Ravilova independently passed tests: no traces of narcotic substances were found. The United Democrats participant was taken to court in handcuffs. She was then returned to the police station for the night. On July 16, the court appointed Ravilova 5 days of arrest under the article on “failure to comply with the legal requirement of an authorized official to undergo a medical examination” (Article 6.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Then they again tried to arrest her under the article on repeated violation of the rules for holding the rules of a mass event (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
