State Duma deputies approved in the third reading an initiative that amends the federal law on education. The bill implies the use of only verified online platforms, educational resources and electronic textbooks in schools and institutions of secondary vocational education.
Such resources and textbooks will be included in a special list based on the results of an examination of the materials contained in them. The Ministry of Education of Russia will conduct an audit, draw up a list and determine the procedure for its formation.
In addition, the adopted amendments oblige to store the personal data of students, which may be required for e-learning, in the state information system. According to Vedomosti , we are talking about the My School GIS, which will become the same for all educational institutions in the country and where an electronic diary, journal, schedule and content library will be integrated. Educational organizations must connect to it no later than January 1, 2023.
“Printed textbooks and teaching aids have been undergoing certain verification for a long time. The need for this is beyond doubt. Considering the trend towards general digitalization and the increasingly active use of online textbooks and digital platforms in the educational process, it was a logical decision to expand existing norms by digital,” said Alexander Khinshtein, one of the authors of the initiative, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
