The Russian Socio-Ecological Union (RSC) and the “Live to Live” movement created an ecological-critician group to support Russian activists. On the special website of the project and in the Telegram channel, they plan to publish expert analytics and news on how to support the pressure fighters for preserving nature. About this “7x7” was told by the activist of the “Live here” movement Dmitry Sokushin.
The creators of the environmental-criticism group monitor cases of persecution of Russian activists and ecologists, analyze the causes of pressure on them, try to establish a dialogue between social activists and representatives of the authorities, and also develop a system of support for nature defenders. They plan to publish the results of the work on the site and in the Telegram channel .
-The Russian socio-ecological union has long been protecting activists and environmentalists. Now we have decided to create an expert community that sees an important part of his work to help with the extensions of the authorities to the ecoactivists. We hope that the ecological and criticized group will help them, ”said Dmitry Sokushin, 7x7.
According to the creators of the project, in 2021, security officials opened 27 criminal cases against nature defenders and amounted to 47 protocols on administrative offenses. About 10 times they threatened or used violence. On the project’s website have already published reviews of pressure on social activists from January to October 2021. Among the human rights organizations indicated on the website, ready to provide assistance, projects " OTD-info "*, " Apology " and " Agora ".
This is not the first initiative to support nature defenders in Russia, which was created in 2021. For example, in June, the Kemerovo journalist Natalya Zubkova, who left Russia and threats, launched a forum for eco activists Redbutton (“Red button”) and announced the opening of the Black Tag project with information about environmental violators.
