Roskomnadzor blocked the Tor service website

Roskomnadzor has blocked the website of the anonymous Tor browser in Russia, which allows you to bypass blocking, reports . Forbes

A representative of Roskomnadzor told the publication that the agency had restricted access to the Tor website. The torproject.org website was included in the Unified Register of Prohibited Information based on a court decision. The reason for this was "the placement on the specified site of information that ensures the operation of tools that provide access to illegal content," the representative of the department explained.

The day before, the RKN demanded that the Tor anonymous access service remove prohibited information, otherwise it will be blocked. The regulator's standard letter was published on the GitLab portal. What information Roskomnadzor required Tor to remove was not specified.

According to him, blocking the Tor site does not mean the end of bypassing Internet censorship - at least there are VPN services and special "bridges" (IP addresses) that people with a blocked network can use.
