The Central District Court of Simferopol fined Crimean Tatar Mustafa Bekirov, who came to the hearing in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case. Crimean Solidarity reports this.
The activist was given a fine of 10 thousand rubles under the article on participation in an action that resulted in interference with the movement of pedestrians and vehicles (Part 6.1 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). Bekirov was detained on October 25, when he came to the building of the Crimean Garrison Military Court, where that day the hearing on the appeal against the verdict in the case of the “Red Guard group” of Hizb ut-Tahrir was being broadcast. Previously, the case against Bekirov was dropped due to the lack of evidence of an offense, but after an appeal, the charges were returned for review.
- On October 25, 21 people were detained at the Crimean Garrison Military Court. On that day, the court was broadcasting a hearing to consider the appeal against the verdict in the Red Guard case of Hizb ut-Tahrir. The detainees were taken to temporary detention centers in different cities of Crimea. Lawyer Edem Semedlyaev, who came to one of the police departments to help the detainees, was subject to a report of disobedience to the legal demands of police officers (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code) due to his refusal to undress. On November 12, he was arrested for 12 days.
- The defendants in the Hizb ut-Tahrir Red Guard case, Rustem Emiruseinov, Eskender Abdulganiev and Arsen Abkhairov, were detained in Crimea as a result of searches in February 2019. They were in custody from then until their sentencing. On November 3, 2020, they were sentenced to 12 to 17 years in prison on charges of involvement in a terrorist organization. On November 1, 2021, the appellate court upheld the verdicts.
- The Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir is recognized as a terrorist organization in the Russian Federation. In different regions of Russia, as well as in Crimea, cases are being brought against alleged party members for the activities of a terrorist organization. At the same time, members of Hizb ut-Tahrir were not seen preparing attacks or terrorist attacks. Defendants are sentenced to varying terms solely on the basis that they held meetings and read religious literature. On the territory of Ukraine, the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir are permitted.
