The Investigative Committee brought final charges against Ilnaz Galyaviev for the attack on the Kazan gymnasium, in which nine people were killed

The central apparatus of the Investigative Committee brought final charges against 19-year-old Kazan resident Ilnaz Gilyaviev in the case of an attack on his former gymnasium No. 175. This is stated on the department's website.

Galyaviev is accused of killing several people in a generally dangerous way, manufacturing and storing explosives, as well as damaging property (part 2 of article 105, part 1 of article 222.1, part 1 of article 223, part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal Code). More than 600 people were recognized as victims.

Kazan “admitted [his guilt] in full and repented of his actions,” the release says. SK explained his motives as “a desire to imitate the actions of informal representatives of one of the destructive subcultures, information about which he obtained [on the Internet], copying their behavior during an attack.”

The first examination, carried out in Moscow, declared Galyaviev insane, but a second psychological and psychiatric examination came to the opposite conclusion; thus he is subject to criminal liability.

On the morning of May 11—the first working day after the May holidays—Gilyaviev came to Kazan gymnasium No. 175 to look at the schedule, and then returned to the second lesson with a semi-automatic gun in his hands.

He opened fire on the street, shot at the caretaker at the door, and then went inside and began shooting in the first floor corridor. The attacker left a homemade bomb near a closed office and went up to other floors and began shooting there. In total, seven students and two teachers died; Several schoolchildren fell to their death while jumping out of windows.

Before the attack, Galyaviev created a closed telegram channel “God”, where before the attack he posted several selfies and the post “Today I will kill a huge amount of bio-waste and shoot myself.” After his arrest, he said that he was “born as a god,” and “in the summer a monster woke up in him” and he “started to hate everyone.”
