The company -developer of the Ward B video game has accused the Kalashnikov concern of theft of shotgun design. She demanded that the weapons manufacturer remove all images of these weapons from the site and from social networks and stop its production. About this writes the publication IGN.
In August 2020, Kalashnikov held a presentation of the new shotgun "Ultima". The manufacturer’s website says that a shotgun has an “improved ergonomics and ultra -modern design”.
Ward B claims that the design was copied from the Mastodont shotgun, announced in the Oceanic video game. Kalashnikov, in March 2020, sent an application for the purchase of rights to use the design, but later the company unilaterally stopped correspondence. The representative of Kalashnikov said IGN, negotiations with the studio were "preliminary", and the design of the shotgun was made from scratch by a Russian specialist. He provided the editorial board for a shotgun and a conclusion on the originality of work from the Russian Union of Designers. At the same time, gunsmiths contacted the designer who worked on the design of the gun in Ward B, and tried to buy the rights to his work from him, the newspaper writes.
Ward B CEO said that his studio no longer hopes for a legal solution to the problem: they need to file an application for copyright violations to the Russian court, but now the developers have no money for this. The Ultima shotgun is sold on the Kalashnikov website for 130 thousand rubles (about 1800 dollars).
