The court left unchanged the extension of house arrest for the person involved in the case about the telegram channel “What-to-Delat!”

The Moscow City Court upheld the decision to extend the house arrest of Maria Platonova, a student at the Higher School of Economics and a defendant in the Chto-Delat! Telegram channel case. This is reported by DOXA.

Earlier, the Basmanny District Court extended Platonova's arrest until February 14.

20-year-old Platonova is accused under the article on inciting mass riots (part 1.1 of article 212 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, the student, along with the founder of the Chto-Delat! Dmitry Chebanov “created a network of telegram channels in which they posted publications and carried out campaigning activities aimed at organizing mass riots” during the elections to the State Duma. The investigation believes that Platonova used the nickname “Vovan Zabivnoy” in the telegram channel.

The case file lists several messages from a user with this nickname. One of them, sent on the evening of September 5, says: “Insolence is fire. We went out one by one with fireworks in order to generally declare ourselves, and we went out with fire, without a crowd behind us. They declared themselves as a fairly radical organization. The rally went well, apart from the detainees.”

The girl studies at the Higher School of Economics and before the criminal case she worked as a designer at the campaign headquarters of the municipal deputy of the Shchukino district Anastasia Bryukhanova, who ran for the State Duma, and also collaborated with politician Maxim Katz. Platonova denies participation in the actions imputed to her by the Investigative Committee. The student has been under house arrest since October 17. The day before, she was detained after a search.

• On September 16, the Investigative Committee published a press release on the initiation of a case under the article on mass riots (part 1.1 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) against the author of the Chto-Delat! telegram channel. Dmitry Chebanov and "other persons". Recordings were published in this channel calling for actions “against the Putin regime.” The security forces said that 11 people from 7 subjects of Russia were involved in the criminal case.
