Extreme weather phenomena from hurricanes to atypical cooling are one of the vivid consequences of the climate of the planet. And then it will be worse, experts say . Therefore, the issues of ecology are becoming more and more relevant - both for the authorities and for business and the population. The EU introduces carbon tax, and the new convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation is called the most environmentally friendly from the point of view of the “green” laws considered. However, no serious results from this are yet visible.
RAYA KVON Chung , an expert of the climate intergovernmental group ( IPCC ), the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and an honorary doctor of Moscow University , told the Future magazine, who depends on the ecology of the planet, does the development of agriculture affect the global warming, what is the Silk Road supernett, why they are needed and what to do Russia further.
- In Brussels, almost 20 thousand people went to the action to combat climate change. It’s good that people are interested in climate change, but can such promotions really help? Or can this be attributed to half measures that will never lead to anything?
- Similar public actions can stimulate the government to think more actively in the direction of environmental development. Because on top of action, on the policy of the head of state, it depends on how soon the country will take certain measures to achieve sustainable development. But it is important that, in addition to these shares, society, for its part, also exhibits some kind of environmental responsibility: otherwise the actions of the authorities will be useless.
The simplest example is the rejection of the car in favor of the bicycle when possible. In many European cities like Copenhagen or Amsterdam, people actively use bicycles. They understand why this is important, and at the same time they have the opportunity to do this. But in the USA, for example, such a scenario is still unlikely, even if all citizens really want to get rid of cars. Because the state infrastructure does not contribute to this. If the government sees the need of citizens, it can meet and think about changing urban design. It turns out that still the fight against climate change is primarily the work of the people. Therefore, yes, partly such promotions can help.
