A Vologda anarchist was released from mandatory work in the case of arson at the United Russia office.
The Vologda Regional Court released from punishment the anarchist Ruslan Gatamov, who had previously been sentenced to compulsory labor in the case of arson at the United Russia office. He himself reported this to OVD-Info*.
Thus, the regional court partially satisfied the defense complaint. The sentence was not overturned, but the court took into account the anarchist’s presence in a psychoneurological dispensary during the investigation and the ban on leaving the house at night, and therefore released him from punishment. The prosecutor's office demanded a tougher sentence, but the court refused.
Gatamov was sentenced at the end of October. Gatamov did not deny that on the night of October 30-31, 2019, he threw a Molotov cocktail at the wall of the United Russia office, but emphasized that there was no one in the building, and “the Molotov cocktail was thrown not at the window, but into the wall." Damage to the building was estimated at 653 rubles 23 kopecks.
In January of this year, in the same case, a court in Moscow sentenced Moscow State University graduate student Azat Miftakhov to six years in prison. He was detained on charges of vandalism; later the case was reclassified as hooliganism motivated by political hatred, committed by a group of people.
According to the court, on January 31, 2018, Miftakhov stood near the scene of the attack on the United Russia office, in which his acquaintances broke a window and threw fireworks inside. The entire criminal case is based on the testimony of secret witnesses.
