Arrested Moderators of Opposition Telegram Channel in Chechnya Go on Hunger Strike

Two arrested brothers, Ismail Isayev and Saleh Magamadov , moderators of the opposition Telegram channel Osal Nakh 95, have gone on a hunger strike after the court refused to transfer their case from Chechnya to another region for consideration. This was reported to Meduza by Miron Rozanov, press secretary of the SK SOS crisis group.

Isaev and Magamadov announced this on December 21 at a session of the Achkhoy-Martan District Court of Chechnya, which is considering the merits of the criminal case on aiding terrorism brought against the brothers.

Isayev and Magamadov have been in custody for more than ten months. During their arrest, they reported being tortured, pressured to renounce lawyers, and threatened with honor killings by distant relatives.
