In Israel, the death of a patient with the “omicron” strain of coronavirus was recorded for the first time

Israel has recorded its first death after being infected with the Omicron strain of the coronavirus. It is reported by Kan.

The 65-year-old patient died in a hospital in Beersheba. The man had concomitant diseases, he was vaccinated against coronavirus twice, but more than six months have passed since the last vaccination.

According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, 170 new cases of infection with the Omicron strain have been identified in the country today. A total of 341 cases of the new cornavirus variant are currently known in the country.

Earlier, the first fatal outcome after infection with the "omicron" strain of coronavirus was recorded in the United States. The man died at the age of about 50, he was not vaccinated and had serious health problems, ABC News reported.

The first known omicron death in the world was in the UK. The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified it as "Concerned".

The new strain B.1.1.529 was first detected in a patient in Botswana, then it spread throughout the world and was identified in many European countries. Since November 28, Russia has suspended entry into its territory from Hong Kong and eight South African countries because of the “omicron”. Currently, 41 cases of infection with a new strain of coronavirus have been detected in Russia .
