The court refused to transfer the convicted ex-head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region Shestun from the Tver region to another region. He complained about threats

The Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow refused to transfer the ex-head of the Serpukhov District of the Moscow Region Alexander Shestun, who is serving a sentence in IK-6 of the city of Bezhetsk in the Tver Region, to another region, recognizing the corresponding refusal of the Federal Penitentiary Service as legal. This was told to Novaya Gazeta by the head of the public committee "Freedom to Shestun" Vlada Rusina.

According to Rusina, the ex-head of the Serpukhov district is demanding a transfer because of a conflict with the leadership of the regional department of the service, as well as “the personal enmity of the head of the UFSIN, General [Alexander] Kuzmin.” In addition, she noted that in the correctional institutions of the Tver region Shestun was beaten, and in IK-6 he was threatened with physical violence.

Another argument of Shestun was that IK-6 Bezhetsk is located far from the place of residence of his family. The elderly mother of the ex-head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region cannot come there on dates: from the village of Bolshevik, where the Shestun family lives, to Bezhetsk is about 420 kilometers.

Shestun's lawyer, Lyudmila Smetanina, indicated that the court, at the request of the defense, requested information on the number of convicts in the colonies of the Tula, Ryazan and Kaluga regions - correctional institutions, as she indicated, were overcrowded only in the latter. “But Tula or Ryazan could well accept it, taking into account the limit. These materials will be used by us when filing a new claim, and an appeal will be filed against today's decision, ”said the defender.

Now Shestun is in SIZO-11 in Noginsk near Moscow, Rusina noted that he could be transferred to Tver in a few days.

In May, the ex-head of the Serpukhov District was registered in IK-6 as prone to escape. According to Shestun, the decision introduced "huge inconvenience in the form of a mandatory check every 2 hours, including at night." Last week, the Tver Regional Court canceled the decision to register Shestun.

A year ago, the Podolsk city court sentenced the ex-head of the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region, Shestun, to 15 years in a strict regime colony. He was arrested in July 2018 and charged with major fraud (Article 159 of the Criminal Code), money laundering (Part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code), illegal business activities (Article 289 of the Criminal Code) and accepting a bribe (Article 290 of the Criminal Code). Shestun himself did not admit his guilt and stated that he considered his case to be fabricated.
