The Leningrad region has terminated the case of the Pikketer “Strategy-18”, published in support of the Crimean Tatars

The Vsevolozhsk City Court in the Leningrad region has terminated the case against the activist of Strategy-18 Asan Mumji, accused of demonstrating extremist symbols in the support of Crimean Tatars. This was reported by the Telegram channel "peaceful resistance of St. Petersburg."

Mumji was detained on September 1 in a trolleybus and delivered to the police department to draw up a protocol. The activist was charged with a demonstration of extremist symbols (Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) on the Strategy-18 campaign, which took place on August 18 in the city of Kudrovo, Leningrad Region. The police consider the Crimean Tatar flag as the symbols of an extremist organization, as it is used by the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people .

On November 9, they also terminated cases against the associates of Mumji Olga Smirnova and Vlad Shipitsyp, accused under the same article.

Mumji defended the lawyer from the OVD-info of Maria Belyaeva.

• “Strategy-18” is an unlimited protest in support of the Crimean Tatar activists, announced in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The name is associated with the memorable date: on May 18, 1944, the deportation of Tatar families began in Crimea, during which many died, without reaching the places of links. Participants in Strategy-18 are regularly detained during peaceful protests.
