Google partially unblocked the Tsargrad YouTube channel by court decision

According to the court's decision, Google must completely unblock the Tsargrad YouTube channel, return access to the authors and restore all “mail messages, documents, images, tables and chats, list of subscribers, comments on videos, reposts, likes and dislikes.”

On December 16, the court confirmed that Google illegally blocked the Tsargrad YouTube channel and ordered the company to pay a fine of 100 thousand rubles every day for failure to comply with the court decision.

The court indicated that in the first nine months the maximum amount of the penalty cannot be more than a billion rubles. However, if Google does not completely restore the channel by 2022, the restriction on the fine will disappear, and it will amount to more than a billion rubles.

In October 2020, two Tsargrad viewers filed lawsuits against Google because they lost the opportunity to watch the Tsargrad YouTube channel and “discuss topics that interest them with like-minded people.”

Google blocked the Tsargrad YouTube channel in July 2020, citing the fact that its head Konstantin Malofeev was under US sanctions. On July 12, 2021, Google invited Tsargrad to peacefully resolve the dispute. In August, the TV channel said that negotiations for a peaceful resolution were “completed without essentially starting.” At the same time, Google threatened to stop blocking content banned in Russia due to the Tsargrad lawsuit.
