Volunteers said that the Kozhukhovsky shelter with 3,000 dogs is being relocated to the territory of a landfill

The Moscow Kozhukhovsky municipal shelter is planning to be relocated to the territory of the Malinki landfill, its volunteers report on Instagram.

Now the shelter, which houses 3,000 dogs and 400 cats, is located in the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow. The new place for the shelter is located 85 kilometers from the current one - that’s 41 kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road along the Kaluga Highway.

Volunteers note that moving the shelter will create several problems: most of them will not be able to get to the shelter, hundreds of dogs will be left without walking, it will become impossible to fully control food, water and cleaning, the medical team will be forced to leave the shelter, it will also be more difficult for potential animal owners to get to pets

“All this will lead to the death of hundreds of dogs and cats,” volunteers believe. “We demand that the shelter be left on the territory of the Eastern Administrative District and that transport accessibility be maintained both by personal and public transport.”
