In Murmansk, the city administration agreed to establish a memorial sign of 17 to fishermen who died in December 2020 during the collapse of the Onega vessel. This was reported to the North. Reali was reported by the relatives of the dead, who throughout the year sought the installation of a sign with a truly listing of the dead fishermen. The information was also confirmed by the Ministry of Information Policy of the Murmansk Region.
Temporarily the sign will be installed in the Temple of the Savior on the waters in Murmansk on the anniversary of the tragedy, December 28.

The thuler "Onega" sank in the Barents Sea on December 28, 2020. There were 19 people on board, only two survived. The search for 17 crew members stopped a few days later. After the tragedy, the Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrei Chibis said that a monument would be erected to the dead. The issue was to be resolved by the city administration and the Council of Deputies. However, the deputies refused relatives to install a separate monument or a memorial plate with a truly listing of the dead. The head of the council Andrei Sysoev referred to the fact that there are already monuments to sailors in the city. In mid -December, the relatives of the victims turned to Vladimir Putin and the head of the UK, Alexander Bastrykin.
Immediately after the tragedy, the UK opened a criminal case due to violation of the safety rules of the vessel (part 3 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Rosmorrechflota made a conclusion from which it followed that the cause of the accident was icing and the “unprofessional actions of the captain of Onega” Alexander Baranov. The conclusions were made without the study of a sunken ship. Relatives do not agree with the decision of the examination and achieve that Onega be raised from the bottom of the Barents Sea for examination.
Another criminal case was opened against Artem Tambovtsev - deputy chairman of the fishing collective farm named after M.I. Kalinin, who is the owner of the vessel. The investigation believes that Tambovtsev, knowing about the icing of the vessel, did not forbid the fishermen fishing and did not send the ship to the shelter.
