Forbes named the richest billionaires of 2021

The American Forbes has calculated how much the richest people in the world have added in capital in 2021. It turned out that out of 2.6 thousand billionaires, almost 70% increased their fortune, and some became richer by hundreds and tens of billions at once.

In 2021, the combined wealth of the top 10 richest billionaires in the world increased by $458 billion. This is more than a quarter of the total increase in the wealth of all the world's billionaires from January 1 to December 10, 2021 (total + $1.6 trillion).

• Elon Musk was expected to be the most successful year in 2021 - in a year his fortune soared by $109.8 billion to $265.4 billion. The capital of the American billionaire grew against the backdrop of a 39% rise in Tesla's stock price and an increase in SpaceX's valuation. In November 2021, Musk even became the first person in history whose fortune was estimated at $300 billion – but after that, his fortune still corrected.
• In second place is Indian billionaire Gautam Adani. Over the year, his fortune added $52.5 billion to $81.1 billion. According to Forbes, the value of the shares of the public company Adani Gas (engaged in the supply of raw materials) soared by 400%, the share price of the energy company Adani Transmission rose by 330%, and the holding company Adani Enterprises - by 250%.
• In third place is Google founder Larry Page. Over the year, his fortune increased by $49.1 billion to $126.3 billion. Page increased capital at the expense of Google shares (he is one of the largest shareholders of the corporation), which soared 71% in 2021 against the background of good reporting and share buybacks.
• The top 5 richest billionaires also included Oracle founder Larry Ellison (+$47.5 billion), who raised capital by growing shares of his corporation and Tesla (Ellison owns the second largest after Elon Musk's stake), as well as the second founder of Google Sergey Brin ($46.7 billion)

The increase in the capital of Russian billionaires amounted to $ 145 billion - over the year their total wealth increased by almost a third (30%). This is almost the highest figure in the world except for India (+41% to the total capital of the country's billionaires). Telegram founder Pavel Durov and Wildberries founder Tatyana Bakalchuk became the leaders among Russian billionaires in terms of capital accumulation, Forbes noted.
