The ECHR demanded to suspend the liquidation of the "memorial"

The European Court of Human Rights demanded that Russia suspend the execution of court decisions on the liquidation of the "International Memorial" and the Human Rights Center "Memorial" (recognized by "foreign agents"). This was announced by lawyer Grigory Vipan.

The ECHR indicated that the termination of work could only occur after a decision on a complaint against the legislation on "foreign agents", which the Russian NPO submitted to the ECHR in 2013.

• In November, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Moscow prosecutor’s office demanded that the court liquidate the “International Memorial” and the Memorial Human Rights (both recognized as “foreign agents”) through the court, accusing them of violating the legislation on “foreign agents”, and in the case of a human rights center, also supported by extremism due to the list of political assaulted. Several Nobel laureates, scientists, writers and world -famous musicians, as well as the United States, the European Union and the European Council opposed the demand of the authorities.
  
• The courts within two days - December 28 and 29 - decided to liquidate both organizations.
