The Memorial, recognized by the “foreign agent”, allegedly participated in all protest movements in Russia, supported all the protests aimed at the country's destabilization. Such a statement was made by the prosecutor's office during the court session in the case of the liquidation of the organization, which is now taking place in the Moscow City Court. Human rights activists are broadcasting a meeting.
In addition, the lists of political prisoners, which are conducted by the Memorial, according to the prosecution, are aimed at the formation of a negative perception of the judicial system of the Russian Federation and disinformation of citizens. "Memorial", according to the representative of the prosecutor's office, "demonstrates a sustainable neglect of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and laws, violates the rights of citizens and the right to access information."
Lawyer Vitaly Cherkasov, in turn, said that when liquidating a human rights organization, the state "is trying to break a red flashing light bulb, which signals that something is wrong, and not solve the problem itself."
Earlier, during the hearing, the prosecutor's office accused the human rights center of justifying extremism and terrorism, and also expressed the opinion that the lack of a “foreign agent” marking in the materials of the Memorial could cause depression among citizens.
On the eve of the Supreme Court of Russia, in the lawsuit of the Prosecutor General’s Office, he eliminated the Memorial Society entered into the register of “foreign agents”. The prosecutor's office demanded that the human rights organization be banned due to the fact that it allegedly violates the law on “foreign agents”, discredits power and “creates a false image of the USSR”.
