Tesla set a record for electric vehicle deliveries in the fourth quarter

Tesla delivered 308,600 electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2021, the company said in a press release. As noted by CNBC, this is a quarterly record.

The previous maximum for deliveries was reached by Tesla in the third quarter of the same year: 241,300 electric cars. In total, Tesla delivered 936,372 electric cars in 2021. This is 87% more than in 2020, when the company delivered 499,647 vehicles.

Wall Street analysts had expected 267,000 electric vehicles to be delivered in the fourth quarter and 897,000 for all of 2021, according to a consensus forecast compiled by FactSet.

The leaders were two models - the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y SUV. Their total deliveries amounted to 911,208, that is, 97.3% of the total deliveries for the year.

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, commented on these results on his Twitter. “Great job by the Tesla team around the world!” he wrote.
