Volunteers of the Red Cross and the Medican Volunteers moved by festive nights are on duty on the streets of St. Petersburg

“Bruises and fractures, broken heads, victims of peppers, just lying on the street are our cases,” says Julia Savanets, a coordinator with a call sign Astra ( all the other volunteers asked not to call their names, only * - ed. *) - we do not refuse to help anyone: we need an ambulance, before which we can make a wound, and he can treat a wound, and he should be treated. And put the tire, and carry out cardiac and-based resuscitation. In the backpacks we have everything you need: bandages, chlorhexidine, an outpatient bag, thermalode, chemical heating pads.

In the watch on New Year's Eve, 12 volunteers of the Russian Red Cross and four representatives of the All-Russian Medican Volunteers of the All-Russian movement participated. They provided first aid to 27 victims - in 11 cases it was necessary to call an ambulance.

First aid is relatively simple

In a quarter of the twelfth, volunteers pass the framework of metal detectors on Palace Square and near the Alexander column are divided into three, each has a walkie -talkie. The first three goes to the Alexander Garden, the second - to the copper horseman, the third takes under observation the beginning of Nevsky Prospekt.

The volunteer goes to the ambulance on duty. There he must invite doctors to exchange phones and inform that if necessary, they can transport the victim to an ambulance or create a corridor to travel the car of doctors through the crowd.

“At first glance, it may seem that there is no sense in our duty, because you can always call“ 112, ”says Astra. - But at mass events, we sometimes find ourselves next to the victim before an ambulance, whose passage slows down, ceilings, crowds. First aid is relatively simple actions, but they can be critical for saving life and health. For example, with severe bleeding, assistance is required in the first seconds.

The volunteer who returned “from intelligence” reports: “The ambulance on the palace is departmental.”

“This is another reason for our duty: such crews are intended to help employees of departments and do not have the right to leave their post without an order - they will most likely help a person in trouble, but will not take him to the hospital and call the car from the city substation,” says Astra.

From the radio Astra comes: “People begin to push on the framework at the beginning of Nevsky. Thuts throw firewood under their feet. It becomes restless. "

- The denser the crowd, the higher the risk of trauma. Four years ago, when the aggressively configured group fell off part of the fences on Palace, and the crowd became uncontrolled, midnight I met, resting my hands on the garbage tank in the company of riot police, whose employees maintained order, - Astra recalls.

Let the year be for us ...

Without five minutes, three groups of volunteers gather again in the square. Around the Bengal lights and fireworks are lighting. Everything is in smoke, but so far calmly. When "cheers begin to scream around! Happy New Year! ”, Astra congratulates colleagues:

- Let the New Year be for us ...

But he does not have time to finish the phrase: red fire is lit in the Alexander Garden. The detentions begin.

Immediately after midnight, the policeman begins to mutter in the loudspeaker: "There will be no other festive events, including salute!" Palace is closed for the entrance. The festivities move to Nevsky. At his beginning, a group of Stepa is on duty. With him in the team of lava and rock (the girl who chose this call sign, is fond of mountain tourism).

The rock is on duty with the Red Cross for the first time. She took first aid courses, went to the volunteer camp, but had not yet entered the exits.

“I decided that on New Year's Eve my help would be needed,” she says. - There is risk everywhere, even if you just sit at home. We try to be prepared for everything, and safety precautions helps to avoid trouble.

“Last time I was green, shugged at every explosion of firecracker and thought that there would be a lot of victims,” Step shares. - Now I am much calmer and simply looking through the eyes of those who need help.

A riot police approaches the guys standing on a shore for a better review and asks for help: nearby, a man became ill. “I just walked - it began to suddenly hurt so that I began to walk sideways,” the victim says.

After a short survey, volunteers call an ambulance and help the man take the right position so that he does not hurt. After 15 minutes, doctors take him to the hospital.

About one in the morning, after the metro closing, Astra according to the radio reports: “The movement began on the Duma. My group goes there - we will orientate and give the introductory work. ”

“Duma at night-little hell, as in films about zombie apocalypse,” Lava jokes. - There are always a lot of people who like to drink and fight.

People don't think about danger

The first victim in the Astra group is noticed on the street. A man is unconscious on icy granite tiles. The police have already called an ambulance. Volunteers wrap the victim in a thermalode, periodically check his condition.

“Our wards are often condemned: they say, they themselves are to blame,” says the wind. - But it makes no difference to us - why did a person come to the Duma, what nationality he is and what beliefs. I before, until I reviewed my views, I also drank here, enjoyed my life and did not notice what was happening around. People do not think about danger when they go to rest. And even more so on the New Year. No one wants to consciously suffer or injure.

- Our work is based on the principles of the Red Cross: humanity, neutrality, impartiality, independence, voluntariness, unity, versatility. This means that everyone needs to help, regardless of skin color, the use of substances or alcohol, religious or political preferences, ”says Julia Savanets. - “It is guilty” can be said about anyone. Even if the incident has a share of his guilt, a person needs sympathy and help.

Interaction with an ambulance in volunteers develops differently.

“There are very tired brigades who are not pleased with our challenge to the next incomprehensible character. And vice versa, sometimes we are sincerely thanking us. ”

I do not sacrifice anything

The Astra group returns to Nevsky and is waiting at the Kazan Cathedral of the amurators to leave for a short break. Passers -by are approaching the guys with different requests, sometimes absurd: from “oh, tell me, where is the nearest toilet” to “Give me a tablet from intoxication”. Volunteers do not have such tablets, but the guys patiently answer all questions.

- I do not sacrifice anything - I come, because I love my work, and the opportunity to celebrate a holiday in the company of reliable friends is worth a lot. In addition, you can not think that to put on an elegant, ”Astra is convinced.

- My oil and gas education, all spheres in which I worked were not related to medicine. I was struck that after the courses I could help people, although I did not study the doctor, ”says the wind.

A fight is tied nearby. Volunteers go to a safe distance.

- In such cases, we turn to the police or the Russian Guards: to separate the fighters is their task. When the active phase of the conflict ends, we help everyone who needs it.

The group arranges a halt in a cafe where they sell Shaverma.

-This legendary place: it somehow survives among the bars and Duma discos. We are already known here, ”says Astra.

When the guys sit down at a free table, the man from the next table asks:

- Are you astronauts or ghost hunters?

“The usual version of the appeal,” Astra smiles. - It doesn't hurt me. In general, this year, we began to recognize the red -cross volunteers more at us - we are usually mistaken for firefighters or sanitary and epidemiological station. The novelty of this duty - we were called "Omicron."

All Duma was flooded with pepper

For twenty minutes the guys rest: they remove helmets, take out a thermos, check social networks, congratulate loved ones on the holiday. They are replaced by Alma and Enkel in the Red Cross office. For them, this is not the first duty on the Duma.

“The person who came to St. Petersburg would not advise going to the Duma, unless he has the goal of visiting the most evil places in Russia,” Enkil describes the place of the upcoming duty. - Duma - these are bars, bars, bars and, accordingly, actively drinking people. Our first rule is our own security. There was a case when there was no police on the Duma, many behaved aggressively, and the bars' guards decided to calm the crowd themselves. We were forced to stop duty - mass fights began, the whole Duma was flooded with pepper - it became impossible to breathe.

On Lomonosovskaya - Dumskaya rests on this street - a woman runs up to Alma and Enkel and calls them to the nearest bar - she noticed how the girl lost consciousness on the street. The injured volunteers are found in slush at the roadway, convey to the sofa standing on the street by the bar, and they are covered with thermal likes.

“You have to press the ear for three seconds,” the visitor of the neighboring bar advises. “I’m recovering her now in three seconds!”

“We are already helping,” Enkil turns to the man. - You will interfere - we will call the police!

- Do you help?! So provide! - the man continues to be indignant, but returns to his company - there they light Bengal lights and drink whiskey from the throat.

The girl beats chills. Volunteers suggest that the victim has strong intoxication and hypothermia. She is weak and speaks very quietly. It turns out that she is a minor and therefore refuses to call an ambulance. Her friend also asks no one to call and offers to order her a taxi home. Several people shoot what is happening on phones.

- Take her! She is bad! - the guy who came out of the bar begins to scream. He leaves somewhere and returns with a glass of boiling water-his hand halfway to the girl so that she is not burned, intercepts Alma.

“Put it there,” she points to the side. - Then we will drink it when the water cools down!

- This is a youngster! What did she do here? - the visitor continues to be indignant.

“Well, what,” the guard answers. “Have you never happened to you?” Sawed simply.

“She was afraid of her parents,” says Alma. - I understood that her condition is unstable - she was close to the loss of consciousness, so she supported her dialogue, calmly explained that her condition was not just alcohol intoxication.

Volunteers manage to convince the girl that they need to call an ambulance, and after several cliffs of communication, they call to the dispatcher.

Said that we worked cool

Very close, around the corner - a man unconscious. He was also waited in the thermalode in anticipation of the ambulance. When doctors come, volunteers help them bring a person to the car.

“Skoriks said that we worked cool,” Step shares. - It's nice when professionals value our help!

“We also handed over to the girl, they received her,” Enkil sums up when two groups are found to reconfigure the frequencies of radio - they began to intersect with the frequencies of bars. - We understand that most people do not have first aid skills, and they intervene for various reasons - from curiosity to humanity. They often try to “help” to us, and we have to protect the victim from outsiders. Yes, and the victims themselves can bias in their condition. If a person stubbornly refuses help, volunteers do not provide her, but continue to observe from afar until he agrees to help or loses consciousness, which will mean automatic consent to an ambulance.

Passers -by -persons did not pay attention to a person who was twisted on a curb. They began to slow down only after the volunteers appeared next to him in the uniform.

Ignoring to the onlookers, Enkel spreads the tourist foam, his partner checks the victim’s pulse and breathing. After a few minutes, seeing that his condition does not improve, they call an ambulance.

“An ambulance today I sympathize: their load increases multiplying,” says Enkel.

We act on circumstances

-On Duma people often do not notice that someone needs help. When a person leaves the bar, he may not look at his feet, but about the lying to think that he is just drunk. This is not always the case, and people intoxicated can also be helped. For example, a person needs to be turned on his side so that he does not have a sunk of his tongue or he does not choke. Therefore, we approach everyone. If an ambulance does not take the victim, then there are reasons for this, - Enkil is sure. - Then we are raising the situation based on the circumstances. If you leave it on the street where he can get under the car, hypothermia, is unsafe, we take, for example, to the underpass, where is warmer.

A riot police approaches the volunteers and reports: a couple of tens of meters of a man defeated his face. Since Alma and Enquil are already working with the victim, they are called free volunteers by walkie -talkie. Nearby is a group of asters. After examination, the guys suggest that a man could damage the eyes - it is impossible to accurately determine this in the field - it is necessary to call an ambulance.

- Always, when there is no confidence in the degree of seriousness of the injury, it is better that the doctor examines the victim. Perhaps hospitalization will not be needed and there will be enough imposition of the seam in the emergency room, ”Astra explains.

From backpacks, volunteers get dressing materials and begin to process wounds.

Such a psyche has a psyche

“I would not reproach those who pass by,” says Astra. - This is the property of our psyche: we ignore situations in which we do not understand what to do. It may seem that an ambulance is an elementary action. I have shy friends - even in the coffee shop they are waiting for the employees themselves pay attention to them. And an ambulance call is a set of actions, in the correctness of which a person may not be sure. It is easy to dial "112" on the screen of the phone. It is difficult to approach a lying person, evaluate his condition, risks for his own safety and make a decision.

New Year's duty is coming to an end at half a pasty in the morning.

“There were many incidents, but all the routine,” says Astra. - On the one hand, our duty can be called monotonous, on the other, two identical victims do not exist. There was practically no verbal aggression - only Igor’s group was not lucky. Sometimes we were warmly thanked even for the most simple assistance in the form of a plasty issued. Or because we were waiting for an ambulance together. I even violated the regulations and accepted the tanger from a passerby - so sincerely she offered them to us.

Volunteers gather at Nevsky, and under the rare explosions of firecrackers-no one paid attention to them-they go to the Red Cross office to finally celebrate the New Year.
