The main plot of four-day protests in Kazakhstan, where people first went out due to increasing gas prices, and then moved to political requirements, turned around late on January 5. President Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev in a special circulation requested military assistance from the CSTO-the Union, which Kazakhstan is included along with Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. And the CSTO has already agreed to the entry of troops. Officially-because of the "terrorist threat." “In fact, this is no longer a threat, it is undermining the integrity of the state, and most importantly, it is an attack on our citizens who ask me, as the head of state, to urgently help them,” Tokaev said. By undermining integrity, this refers to the actual plunder of Almaty: there the protest was strangely replaced by looting.
Unlike other cities, where the protest as a whole proceeded peacefully, people who came out against the security forces in Almaty were originally more sharp and aggressive. But if on the afternoon of January 4, part of the protesters put forward some slogans, then in the evening the street crowd went to arson of police cars. Special equipment was immediately introduced into the city - this President Tokaev announced a state of emergency. However, by morning, a significant part of this technique was in the hands of the crowd. What is strange: the Kazakh military and security forces do not differ in cowardice, but it was they who were the first to disappear from the city when looters came to Almaty. Multiple evidence of the inhabitants of the southern capital of Kazakhstan indicate that
The city was completely abandoned to people in tracksuits who were not afraid of anything at all.
“Aliens”, who had nothing to do with a protest, began to burn the city of Dotle. The building of the Akimat of Almaty, the prosecutor’s office, the office of the Nur Otan party burned out, the fire occurred in the building of the Kazakhstan television channel. The looters began to burn the cars and rob banks and ATMs, to beat everyone who comes to hand (both the retreating security forces and ordinary residents). By the evening of January 5, the Airport of Almaty was actually defeated - many passengers barely managed to lead the building. A little later, without any problems in the hands of the pogroms, the building of the National Security Committee was the building, and from there weapons. In addition, some weapons were simply handed out to the bandits from specially driven cars. Even as of 22:50, Moscow in Almaty, Marauders continued to rob shops and shopping centers, and in the region, according to Tokaev, there were stubborn battles between the “terrorists” and the armed forces.
At the same time, the Internet was absent for almost seven hours and mobile communications practically did not work. Almaty was actually given to a tear - that's just the question to whom exactly. From the point of view of Tokayev, we are talking about a certain “external influence”, but in the probability of “the hands of the West”, perhaps, it is even more difficult to believe than that opposition who are in exile are involved in protests (which are also weak and fragmented). And let it seem fantastic, but probably all this crowd of atrocious men has an internal origin.
Follow the chronology. A sharp strengthening of aggression in Almaty, due to an amazing coincidence, occurred after Samat Abish, first deputy head of the National Security Committee, was fired, and the nephew of Nursultan Nazarbayev was fired from his post. The former president of the country has another nephew who at different times led several sports federations. There is a hypothesis according to which some of the athletes from these federations can have radical views and, if necessary, can be used - perhaps even generally - to destabilize the situation in the country. Of course, this does not mean that they were looters, however
Whoever the pogroms were, it was possible to capture the city so easily with the complete connivance of power structures.
According to a successful coincidence, President Tokaev in the evening of January 5 actually intercepted from Nursultan Nazarbayev the Council of Ministers (about the fate of Elbasy himself in these four days, nothing is unknown in an account), although Nazarbayev seemed like his lifelong head , and then resigned the head of the KRIMA Masimov, which was untouched by the UNB. Immediately after this, the security forces suddenly went storm the city from the looters (an anti -terrorist operation was announced) and release the captured and defeated infrastructure objects. On the morning of January 6, the total stripping of Almaty from the “criminal elements” was announced, but at night in the city there were periodically fighting firearms.
There is only one question: if the security forces began to cope again, why were troops from the CSTO? Russia will send its soldiers without any problems, like Belarus (apparently, this is what three presidents communicated about on January 5), but, given the tense attitude towards the Russian authorities from Kazakhstan and even more so the Kazakh -speaking population, this can become an additional destabilizing factor.
And if Tokaev decided on this, it is obvious that he has more trust in other people's power structures and the army than his own.
In the future, this means great cleaning among Kazakhstani security forces, before that considered loyal, primarily to Nazarbayev, and not Tokaev. And this also means that now the president has no other way out, except to take a big risk and trust Putin and Lukashenko. If suddenly something goes wrong-for Tokayev it will become a fatal mistake. Not only do you have to deal with the CSTO partners, but their citizens may also not forgive their citizens.
