A picketer who spoke in support of protesters in Kazakhstan was sentenced to 15 days of arrest

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow appointed 15 days of arrest for left-wing activist Alexander Zimbovsky under the article on disobedience to the police (part 1 of article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Zimbovsky himself told OVD-Info about this.

The court refused to interrogate the witness, who came to the court and was ready to testify in defense of the detainee.

On January 6, Zimbovsky, along with other activists, was detained because of a picket in support of Kazakh protesters. He was charged with repeated violation of the “rally” legislation (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and disobedience to the police (part 1 of article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). It is not yet known whether the case on violating the picketing rules will be considered today or on another day.

According to preliminary information, Zimbovsky will serve his arrest in special detention center No. 2.

The activist continues to hold a dry hunger strike, which he announced after his arrest.

13:22 It became known that Zimbovsky will be sent to serve his arrest in the temporary detention center for foreign citizens in Sakharovo. Since January 2021, people detained at protests have been sent to this center from time to time to serve their administrative arrest.

15:49 Elena Sidorenkova, who was detained along with Zimbovsky at the picket, was given a day of arrest in the Basmanny District Court under the article on disobedience to the police. She has already served her sentence.

17:35 Sidorenkova was also found guilty under the article on participation in an uncoordinated public action (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). She was fined 10,000 rubles, according to Ilya Utkin, a lawyer from OVD-Info.

On January 11 , the Moscow City Court on appeal upheld the arrest of activist Alexander Zimbovsky. This was reported by the coordinator of legal assistance OVD-Info Daniil Pospelov.
