Millionaire Robert Durst, who was serving a life sentence for the murder of his friend Susan Berman, died in California, in which he himself accidentally confessed during the filming of a documentary series about himself.
Durst received a life sentence for the murder of his girlfriend Susan Berman in 2000. The millionaire was sentenced in October 2021. The motive for the murder was that Berman could tell the police about Durst's involvement in the disappearance of his wife in 1982 - the millionaire was suspected of her murder, but charges were never filed due to lack of evidence.
Durst became a suspect in Berman's murder after the release of the docu-series The Curse about his life, when he accidentally confessed to the crime himself. After finishing one of the conversations with the journalist, the millionaire went to the toilet and said: “What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course" - not knowing that the microphone attached to his clothes is still on. After that, the authors of the series turned to the police.
78-year-old Durst died in a hospital in Stockton, where he was transferred after he became ill in prison. The exact cause of his death is not known.
