Politician Alexei Navalny told how he celebrated the New Year in the colony. The corresponding post appeared on January 10 in his social networks.
Navalny noted that there was not even a “semblance of a gala dinner” in the colony, but on December 31, the authorities allowed the prisoners to stay up until 1 a.m. and use the kitchen.
30 minutes before New Year's Eve, people come to the barracks to congratulate. In front of the line of prisoners (that is, us), several other prisoners are dancing, dressed in costumes of animals and Santa Claus. The operator is watching. The department of educational work is filming. The classic moment when absolutely everyone is ashamed and wants everything to end quickly. When Santa Claus asked “the guys to read a poem”, 71-year-old Valera (heavy bodily injuries, hit a neighbor with a knife) unexpectedly for everyone really read his poems. There were lines: “Santa Claus, release us on parole. If not all, then at least one.”
Navalny also noted that the rise in the colony on January 1 was also later than usual - at seven in the morning.
