The court approved the sentences of five participants in the protest against the self-isolation regime in North Ossetia

The Rostov Regional Court approved the sentences of five participants in a rally against the self-isolation regime, which took place in 2020 in Vladikavkaz. This is reported by the "Caucasian Knot".

On July 26, the Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don found Aslan Gasiev, Zaza Tsaritov, Artur Bugulov, David Okruashvili and Magomed Kadyrov guilty of participating in mass riots (part 2 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) that allegedly took place at the rally.

Two of the defendants pleaded guilty, the rest stated that they were at the scene by accident. One of the rally participants agreed that he threw a stone at the police, but said that he did it, succumbing to emotions.

Gasiev and Tsaritov, who pleaded guilty, received five years in prison, Bugulov and Okruashvili were given five years and three months each, and Kadyrov was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.

• A rally against the self-isolation regime was held in Vladikavkaz on April 20, 2020. Residents protested over the loss of their jobs and demanded that the authorities support people who are facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic. The rally was violently dispersed by the security forces, as a result, 69 people were detained. There were clashes between protesters and police during the crackdown. As of August 2020, according to OVD-Info, there were at least 50 defendants in the case, the names of 36 people are currently known, the details are unknown in most cases.
